A few weeks ago, we informed you about the startup process to eliminate asbestos that we carried out at the Magratex facilities in Borba.
Once again, Helexia Portugal shows its commitment to photovoltaic solar energy trusting prosolia to perform this incredible challenge. A project of which we are especially proud because with the removal of asbestos from the Magratex roof, we are part of a project in which there is not only a commitment to the sustainability of our environment, but there is also a concern about people’s health.
We have carried out this removing process in several phases:
• 1st Asbestos removal: this process is really complex due to the danger of the material that will be removed, so to avoid any damage we perform insulation tasks of the ship and the personnel.
• 2nd Construction of a new roof.
• 3rd Installation of panels. From Prosolia we take care that the area of fibre cement was replaced. A total of 3600m2 of roof were occupied by 1100 sandwich solar panels of 310 W each.
This PV installation whose power is 344 100 Wp will produce 576 MWh per year, which is 50% of the annual customer consumption.
With all this it is proven that relying on photovoltaic energy means obtaining benefits for health, environmental and at the same time economical savings.
